Eco-Friendly Energy Concepts - The Advantages Of Batteries
With global warming, pollution and rising fuel rates, our future energy needs are a hot topic. Fuel cells might represent a solution, one coming sooner than later.
Future Energy Concepts: The Fuel Cell
A fuel cell is actually a fairly vague phrase thrown around by those in the know and those that know relatively little. Regardless of the specific design, a fuel cell is basically a cell comparable to a battery in which a chemical process occurs to produce electricity.
In this case, however, the fuel is hydrogen. The fundamental concept is to combine hydrogen with oxygen in a method that produces electricity. This electrical power is then used as we would generally use it in our lives.
When you read the paper or watch the news, one would believe the concept of hydrogen fuels is a new one. The fact is, it is not.
The first one was developed in 1839. The problem, naturally, was it was inefficient and there wasn't much interest given that fossil fuels had been plentiful and our energy needs were tiny compared to today.
It wasn't until the Sixties that much interest was shown in the energy platform. As with many advances, NASA decided to make use of fuel cells to power the Gemini and Apollo spacecrafts. Unfortunately, the trick has been translating this minimal use to wide spread applications in day-to-day life.
A common misconception is the fact that a fuel cell represents renewable energy. Very clearly, it does not. It is a device, not a power platform. It is like saying a hydroelectric dam is a renewable energy.
The dam is really a machine to harness a renewable energy resource, but not a power source in and of itself. The fuel cell functions a lot the same way. It is a methodology for harnessing energy from hydrogen.
The particular approach can be clean or dirty. One can use water or coal for the base material. Clearly, coal is not much help.
Fuel cells can be used, in theory, on any material that contains hydrogen. This means renewable power sources such as hydrogen, bio-gas, and so on. The primary aim is to focus on water as well as other renewable sources because of their inherent clean advantages.
When hydrogen is utilized, for instance, it produces no tangible toxins or greenhouse gases. The byproduct, rather, is simply water.
If there is anything we're great at as a species, it's making technological breakthroughs. A perfect example would be the nano wand and the energy pendant. This breakthrough is now helping folks save funds basically by investing in these fusionexcel goods.
If we can build a hydrogen nuclear weapon, surely we can build a hydrogen fuel cell.
How To Produce Your Own Renewable Power With A Tesla Generator
A Tesla generator has been around for one or two decades though it isn't widely known by the public. The device works by utilizing the energy that is always present in the environment and converting it to electrical power.
Diesel Or Gas - The Simple Truth Behind Diesel Vehicles
Diesel is often looked at as being smelly, noisy, and many think the only place for it is within a tractor. The truth behind diesel vehicles is that they are slow, noisy, smelly, although they are cheaper to run than gas vehicles.
Wind Power As A Practical Remedy To Meeting Renewable Energy Demands
Although it is much less expensive to initially get hooked into the local electric company's grid than it is to set up and hook into wind turbines, in the long run one saves funds by utilizing the wind for energy needs.
