Koi are very sociable fishes. They will live happily with other types of fish, like goldfish (as long as they are not small enough to be eaten). But there are limitations as to what type of fish you can keep with koi.

Koi can see in color. Since koi are very colorful, they are easy targets for predators. Hence, koi have very sharp eyesight to spot predators and find food also.
There is one variety of koi that can change color. Under certain water conditions and temperature, it becomes a totally opposite color from its original.
